Dorothy E. Fitzgerald
Of Buffalo Grove

Dorothy E. Fitzgerald, formerly of Lisle, Pompano Beach, Fla., Door County, Wis. and Elmwood Park, Ill., was born May 30, 1916 in Bronx, New York to Robert and Winifred (nee O’Brien) Mills. She died Saturday at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

Mrs. Fitzgerald was a homemaker. She graduated form Rosary College, now Dominican University, in River Forest and was a member of Kappa Gamma Pi. In the 1960’s and 1970’s she was active in Church Women United and was an appointed member of the Chicago Archdiocese Cardinal’s Commission on Ecumenism. Additionally she was a member of the Elmwood Park High School Board and League of Women Voters.

Dorothy’s survivors include her children Frank R. (Barbara) Fitzgerald of Buffalo Grove, Kathleen F. (Raymond) Fuchs of Appleton, Wis., Paul J. (Christine) Fitzgerald of Lyons, Ill., and John P. (Wendy) Fitzgerald of Stamford, Conn.; her daughter-in-law Joanne Fitzgerald of Harrisburg, Penn; her 14 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; her two nieces and her nephew.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Frank T. Fitzgerald; her son Michael D. and her parents.

Visitation from 5:00 until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:15 AM, Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to St. Mary Catholic Parish 10 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove for Mass at 10:00 AM. Burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
