Velira F. Guenther was born on November 7, 1933 in Elk Grove Village to Otto and Lydia (nee Busse) Goebbert. She died Thursday, March 01, 2007 in Arlington Heights.

Velira dearly loved the Lord Jesus Christ and had a great passion for inviting people into an intimate relationship with a graciously loving God. During 54 years of marriage, Velira passed on her strong Christian faith to her children. She had a compassionate heart for people, was kind and generous, and continually reached out to people in need. She will be dearly missed by the many people whose lives she touched.

Mrs. Guenther is survived by her husband, Donald E. Guenther, whom she married on July 19, 1952 in Arlington Heights; children, Debra (Dan) Meyer of Manchester, IA, Connie (Michael) Sherlock of Arlington Heights and Randy Guenther of Arlington Heights; grandchildren, Emily and Scott Meyer and Kyle and Kelly Sherlock; and her brothers, Arnold (Lois) Goebbert of Arlington Heights and Elwood (Carol) Goebbert of Davis.

Velira is preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Sunday, March 4, 2007at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (four blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights and Monday, March 5, 2007 at the Arlington Heights Evangelical Free Church, 1330 N. Douglas Ave., Arlington Heights from 9:00 AM until the time of funeral service at 10:00AM. Entombment Memory Gardens Cemetery.
