Gilbert Henry Skladzien
Of Mt. Prospect

Gilbert Henry Skladzien was born January 8, 1927 in Chicago to Henry Paul and Emily Beatrice (nee Cerkleski) Skladzien. He died March 13, 2006 at Northwest Community Healthcare Center in Arlington Heights.

Mr. Skladzien was a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service for over 51 years, working out of both the Chicago and Mt. Prospect offices. He served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII.

Gilbert is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen (nee Sliwa), whom he married on April 24, 1948 in Chicago; his daughter Gail (Dave) Sheluga of Roselle; and his grandchildren, Alexander and Katherine Sheluga.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation from 8:30 AM until time of prayers at 9:15 AM, Thursday, March 16, 2006 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (four blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights, to St. Alphonsus Church, 411 N. Wheeling Road, Prospect Heights for Mass at 10:00 AM. Entombment All Saints Mausoleum, Des Plaines.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society, Relay for Life - Roselle, 1801 Meyers Rd., Suite 100, Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181.
