Leona Lydia Luehring
Of Arlington Heights for 74 years

Leona Lydia Luehring was born January 13, 1920 in Gilmer, Illinois to Edward and Lydia (nee Sengstock) Nagel. She died March 6, 2006 at Northwest Community Healthcare Center in Arlington Heights.

Mrs. Luehring had been employed by Arlington Seating, Montgomery Wards and retired in 1990 from Sears & Roebuck. She was a long-time and active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where she participated in Mission Circle, Bible Study, Altar Guild, was a volunteer greeter, and served as the chairman of the Cradle Roll for many years. Additionally, she is a former volunteer at the Lutheran Home and Services. She enjoyed her family, traveling and gardening. Leona will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Herbert C. whom she married on April 18, 1953 at St. Peter Lutheran Church; her children, LuAnn (Dennis) Schuler of Cornell, Ill., Tom (Linda) Luehring of Algonquin, and Julie (Joseph) Kafka of Hoffman Estates; her grandchildren, Stephanie (Josh) Jesse, Jessica (Christopher Lawson) and Kristin Schuler, Patrick and Quinn Luehring, and Brian, Matthew, Kylie and Sarah Kafka; and her siblings June (Irv) Carnehl and Phyllis (Arnie) Oehlerking, and numerous nieces and nephews

Leona is preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Arlene Schnake and Ronald Nagel.

Visitation 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Thursday, March 9, 2006 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (four blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Funeral service 11:00 AM, Friday, March 10, 2006 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 111 W. Olive Street, Arlington Heights. Lie in State at church from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00. Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights.
