William J. Dougherty
31 year Resident of Arlington Heights

William J. Dougherty was born January 19, 1929 in Burchard, Nebraska to Tom and Lucy (nee Obrist) Dougherty. He died Friday, March 11, 2005 at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mr. Dougherty was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He also worked as a certified public accountant for International Harvester, now Navistar until his retirement in 1984 , and was active in a variety of roles with St. James Catholic Church.

William is survived by his wife of 45 years Gerri (nee De Fazio), whom he married June 18, 1960 in Erie, Pennsylvania; children Barb Cornelius of Vernon Hills, Ed (Reava) Dougherty of Vernon Hills and Kathy (Rod) Mumm of Ames, Iowa; grandchildren Bryan Cornelius, Anthony Clemente, Megan and Amanda Dougherty, Hannah, Carter and Casey Mumm; brothers Paul (Delores), Harold (Jean), Tom (Verda) Dougherty; sisters Maureen (Joe) Thibault and Trilly Tegtmeier.

Mr. Dougherty was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary, brother Melvin and brother-in-law Eldon Tegtmeier.

Visitation Sunday from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers will be held 9:15 AM, Monday, at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., proceeding to St. James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 410 S. Hager, Barrington, IL 60010 or Masses appreciated.
