Donovan C. Wachlin was born on October 6, 1923
in Freeport to Marion and Ruth (nee Parriott)
Wachlin. He passed away Friday, February 3, 2012
in Arlington Heights.
Donovan served in the Navy during WWII as a PT
Boater. He was a lifetime educator who taught at
Prospect High School and retired as a professor
of microbiology at Harper Community College.
Donovan is survived by his wife, Harriett, nee
Hutchings; his children, Bruce (Patricia) Wachin,
Faith (Steve) Nowack, Brian Wachin, and Kent
(Katie) Wachin; 12 grandchildren; one
great-grandson; his sisters, Marilyn (the late
Judd) Larsen, Lou Ann (the late Robert)
Stephenson and Judith (Don) Vander Pol; his
brother, Robert (Juanita) Wachlin; and many
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents; and his
sister, Ruth Thatcher.
Visitation from 2:00 pm until the time of
services at 3:00 pm, Sunday, February 5, 2012 at
Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington
Heights Road, Arlington Heights. Interment
private.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the
First United Methodist Church of Arlington
Heights Building Fund, 1903 E Euclid Ave
Arlington Heights, IL 60004.
