Claude E. "Gene" Tackitt
Of Arlington Heights
Claude E. "Gene" Tackitt was born on April 4, 1920 in Sesser, Illinois
to Jack and Margaret (nee Hamilton) Tackitt. He died peacefully at his
home with his loving family on Sunday, February 5, 2012.
Mr. Tackitt worked as a dispatcher for Dravo Barge Line before retiring
in 1984. He served in the Army during WW II and was a member of
Arlington Heights VFW Post 981 and St. John United Church of Christ of
Palatine.
Claude is survived by his spouse of 28 years, Helyn Moore nee
Duchscherer, his children Pamela (Ray) Sramek and Jack (Nadine) Tackitt;
Barbara Straub, Russell (Debra) Moore and Kathy (Mike) Harlow; his 11
grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; his
brother Lowell Tackitt and his sister Marilyn (Arthur) Jaeger.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Tackitt and his parents.
Visitation from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 am,
Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N.
Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois. Interment at Mount
Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Heartland Hospice,
Heartland Hospice, 220 N. Smith St. Suite 420, Palatine, IL 60067, to
St. John United Church of Christ, 1475 W. Algonquin Rd., Palatine, IL
60067 or charity of choice.
