Andrew J. Affrunti

Andrew J. Affrunti was born on July 30, 1916 in Chicago to Vito and Carmelina (nee Pumo) Affrunti. He died Saturday, February 4, 2012 in St. Charles.

Mr. Affrunti was an employee of Motorola for 52 years and worked there even after he retired. He was an accomplished engineer with two patents and a long-time member of the IEEE. He was involved in the dedication of the Illinois Institute of Technology Library in Chicago while working with Motorola. He loved his family. He was dedicated to the care of his wife during her battle with Alzheimer’s.

Andrew is survived by his children, Andrew (Shirley) Affrunti Jr., Andrea Leonard and Audrey (Jeff) Etheridge; his grandchildren, Mark (Lisa) Leonard, Michelle Leonard, Michael Leonard and Joey, Andrew and Tommy Etheridge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Angeline (nee Cuttone) Affrunti and his parents.

Visitation from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights. Prayers, 9:15 AM, Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the funeral home, proceeding to St. James Catholic Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 10:00 AM. Entombment will take place at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
