Elmer L. “Kirk” Kirchhoff
Of Arlington Heights

Elmer L. “Kirk” Kirchhoff was born on December 10, 1921 in Mt. Prospect, IL to William F. and Lillie (nee Oldenburg) Kirchhoff. He passed away on February 12, 2011 in Arlington Heights.

Mr. Kirchhoff was a dairy worker at Bornhoff Dairy for 25 years, followed by 25 years at Lutheran Home and Services. Elmer was a Navy veteran, serving from 1944 to 1946. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and played semi-pro baseball (Arlington Redwings), minor league baseball, and for the Navy team while stationed in Norfolk, VA. Mr. Kirchhoff was a member of the American Legion and Faith Lutheran Church and its Men’s Club.

Elmer is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth (nee Studtmann) Kirchhoff, whom he married on May 7, 1949 in Mt. Prospect; his children, Lynn (Russell) Hodgden of Glendale, AZ and Russ (Lynn) Kirchhoff of Naperville, IL; his grandchildren, Heather (Philip) Robarge, Jeffrey Hughes, and Adam and Benjamin Kirchhoff; his great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Tyson Robarge, and Laura (Ryan) Drevlow; his great-great-grandchild, Gracelynn Drevlow; his sisters, Leona Harth, and Dorothy (Chuck) Ringstrand; and his sister-in-law, Lillian Kirchhoff.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Florence (George) Schaefer and Herbert Kirchhoff; and his brother-in-law Robert Harth.

Visitation from 4:00 to 7:00PM, Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights, and from 10:00AM until the time of funeral service at 11:00AM, Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Faith Lutheran Church, 431 S. Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60005. Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
