Reuben Carl Thorpe

Reuben Carl Thorpe was born December 13, 1939 in Stephenson, Michigan to Elving and Clara (nee Larson) Thorpe. He died on February 9, 2010 in Arlington Heights.

He was a Superintendent at Chicagoland Paving from June, 2008 until December, 2009, a Project Manager in Land Development for Saratoga Homes in 2007, a Project Manager for Joe Keim Land Corporation from 1997 until 2007 and a foreman/superintendent at several road construction firms. He was involved at Northwest Covenant Church on the finance board in charge of church properties, he was chair of the Program Board, a member of the Men’s Fellowship Board, an usher, a Sunday school teacher and he was on the Design Subcommittee/Building Committee.

Reuben is survived by his wife Connie (nee Nelson) Thorpe; his children, Joanne (Terry) Ruch and Jeffrey Thorpe; his grandchildren, Anna, Abby and Philip Ruch; his siblings, Roger (Eileen) Thorpe, Don (Dolores) Thorpe, and Lorraine (Cordell) Wellman; and his many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-mother, Ellen (Dahlstrom) Thorpe.

Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, February 12, 2010 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. Memorial service is at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 14, 2010 at the Northwest Covenant Church, 300 N. Elmhurst Avenue in Mt. Prospect (4-5 blocks west of route 83). Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Northwest Covenant Church Building Fund.
