Of Inverness
Mertis J. Glueckert (nee Hawkins) 83, passed away peacefully Friday, February 5, 2010. She was born April 22, 1926 in Chicago to James L and Mary (nee Carroll) Hawkins and was a resident of Arlington Heights for 42 years and of Inverness for 29 years. Mertis attended North School and graduated from Arlington High School in 1944. She maintained lifelong friendships with many of her classmates . Together with her husband Richard, she was the owner of “Anser Phone” and “Suburban Medical Exchange” which they ran for over 30 years in Arlington Heights.
Mertis was the beloved wife of 61 years of the late Richard F. Jr., dear mother of Richard F. III (Cindy), James (Sue) and Lisa Glueckert Slezak; proud grandmother of Lindsey (Brad) Margolis, Jim (fiancée Melissa Budde), Betsy, Thomas James and Katie Glueckert, and Christian and Kayley Slezak; loving sister of Des (Ted) Hull; and sister-in-law of Mary Ellen (the late Wilbur) Borton and John W. (Rosanna) Glueckert, and fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.
