Gary Bennett Thomas

Gary Bennett Thomas was born August 21, 1933 in Palos Park, Illinois to Warren Arthur and Ruth Elizabeth (nee martin) Thomas. He died Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at ManorCare of Arlington Heights.

Mr. Thomas was a retired Commander for the US Navy having served over 19 years. He was awarded numerous medals including Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal and Philippine Presidential Unit Citation.

Gary survivors include his sons Mark (Nancy) Thomas of Croton on Hudson, NY and Matthew (Tohbi) Thomas of Gilbert, AZ; his grandchildren Quinn, Dillon, Madison and Taylor; his sisters Nancy Alloggiamento and Penny (Jeff Hughes) Thomas and his brother James Martin (Teresa) Thomas.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law Al Alloggiamento.

Visitation from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. Interment private.
