Shiuji Takei
Of Buffalo Grove
Shiuji Takei was
born October 30,
1925 in Oakland, CA
to Nobuaki and Fude
(nee Eto) Takei. He
died February 3,
2009 at Northwest
Community Hospital
in Arlington
Heights.
Mr. Takei was a
detainee in the
Japanese American
internment camps
during WWII. While
at the internment
camp he completed
his high school
education and joined
the U.S. Army. After
his discharge from
the Army he worked
in his family’s dry
cleaning business in
Oakland before
moving to Chicago.
Shiuji is survived
by his wife Sachiko
(nee Morohoshi)
Takei, his children
June (Charles)
Rosenberg, Linda and
Alan Takei; his
grandchildren Kari
(Carl) Ferenczy,
Keith (Sasha)
Rosenberg, Grace,
Patrick and Coco
Hamann; his great
grandson Ethan
Rosenberg; his
sisters Shizu
Kuroiwa and Fuki
Yamamoto and by his
nieces Nancy (Danny)
Yoshida and Allyce
Kuroiwa and his
nephew Kenneth
Kuroiwa.
Shiuji is preceded
in death by his
parents and by his
brothers Ike and
Susumu Takei.
A memorial service
will be held at
10:00 AM on
Saturday, February
7, 2009 at First
United Methodist
Church of Arlington
Heights, 1903 E.
Euclid Ave.,
Arlington Heights. A
reception to follow.
Burial will be
private.
