Thomas F. Rothfus
Of Arlington Heights for 34 years

Thomas F. Rothfus was born September 26, 1941 in Chicago to Frank Smithberger and Mae (nee Hamm) Rothfus and later adopted by his stepfather, Charles Rothfus. He died January 31, 2009 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

Mr. Rothfus served in the United States Marine Corps. from 1959 to 1963. He worked for Northern Trust Company in Chicago for 35 years. He was an avid golfer and a lawn care enthusiast. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, neighbors and fellow parishioners at St. James.


Thomas is survived by his wife Lupe (nee Garza) Rothfus, whom he married December 19, 1970 in McAllen, Tx; his children Melissa (Myles McCallum) Rothfus and Thomas A. (Erin) Rothfus; his sister Helen (Jack) Cahill and by many nieces and nephews.

Tom is preceded in death by his father Frank Smithberger, his step father Charles Rothfus, his mother Mae Rothfus and by his John Smithberger.

Visitation from 3 until 9 PM, Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:15 AM, Wednesday, at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to St. James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 10 AM. Burial at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery.
