Wallace H. “Red” Poehls
Of Mundelein
Wallace H. “Red” Poehls was
born on August 31, 1926 in
Des Plaines to Hans and
Hulda (nee Jaacks) Poehls.
He passed away on February
19, 2008 at his home in
Mundelein.
Red was an avid hunter. He
served in the Army during
WWII. He was the owner and
operator of Red’s Garden
Center in Northbrook since
1968.
Red is survived by his
daughters, Linda (Mike)
Scimeca of Woodstock, Cindy
(Jack) Ullrich of Northbrook
and Terri (Jim) Jones of
Wauconda, and his
grandchildren, Jody (Joe)
Colomer, Cory (Matt) Sumare,
Kelly Scimeca, Jacie (Jason)
Gdovicak, Jorie Ullrich and
Jon Ullrich.
He was preceded in death by
his wife, Loretta (nee
Karnatz), his sisters, Norma
(the late Harvey) Skerke and
Margaret (the late Roy)
Tuttle and his brother,
Kenny Poehls.
Visitation 3:00 Pm until
8:00 PM Thursday, February
21, 2008 at the Glueckert
Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N.
Arlington Heights Road,
Arlington Heights and
Friday, February 22, 2008 at
St. Matthew Lutheran Church,
24500 Old McHenry Rd.,
Hawthorn Woods from 10:00 AM
until the time of Funeral
service at 11:00 AM.
Interment Ridgewood
Cemetery.
