James Drent Yates
Of Arlington Heights
James Drent Yates, an
Arlington Heights resident
since 1941, was born July
16, 1911 in Chicago to John
Edward and Roelvie (nee
Drent) Yates. He died
Friday, February 1, 2008 at
his home in Arlington
Heights.
Mr. Yates was a CPA and
worked for Bally
Manufacturing in Chicago
from 1945 until 1962 and was
their Secretary/Treasurer.
In 1953 he co-founded, with
his brother, Protection
Controls Inc. where he has
been company president.
James was a member of the
Carcajou Shooting Club, had
been active in Boy Scouts
and was in a social
fraternity from college.
His survivors include his
wife Elvera nee Johnson,
whom he married March 16,
1991; his children Douglas
(Anna Marie) Yates, Susan
Yates, Bruce Yates, Deborah
Yates, his step daughters
Jean and Patricia Gilkison;
his nephew Robert (Vi)
Yates; his grandchildren
Jane (Kevin) Galli, Alice
Yates, Sharon (Jeff) Yates,
Ann (Bob) Krieger, Elizabeth
(Greg) Masslich and Monica
Yates; his great
grandchildren Zakira Nicole,
Joshua Tyler and Abigail
Thora; and numerous
relatives and friends.
James is preceded in death
by his first wife Audrey
Thora Zachariasen, to whom
he was married from 1939
until 1990; his parents and
his brother Robert E. Yates.
Visitation from 3:00
until 9:00 PM, Friday,
February 8, 2008 at the
Glueckert Funeral Home,
Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington
Heights Road, (4 blocks
south of Palatine Road)
Arlington Heights and
Saturday, February 9, 2008
from 10:00 AM until time of
Funeral service at 11:00 AM.
Interment private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be given
to a charity of the donor’s
choice.
