John R. “Jack” Muety
Formerly of Arlington
Heights for 52 years
John R. Muety was born on
April 8, 1918 in Chicago to
Joseph and Virginia Muety.
He passed away on February
2, 2008 in Annapolis, MD
close to his son and family.
John lived most of his live
in Arlington Heights and was
a long time member of St.
James Church. He served in
the U.S. Army field
artillery 1st Battalion from
June 1941 until October 1945
with the rank of Tech
Sergeant. He was a long time
member of the Arlington
Heights American Legion Post
208.
Jack served on the committee
to establish the first
Little League baseball
program in Arlington
Heights. He also was a
member of the committee to
form Boy Scout Troop 56 of
St. James Parish. Later he
served on the caucus
selection committee for
local elections. He was a
charter member of the
Arlington Heights Elks Lodge
#2048.
Jack spent his working
career in advertising and
publishing with the Hearst
Corporation for 36 years and
retired as Advertising
Director at the age of 62.
He is survived by his son,
John Thomas (Lynn) Muety of
Annapolis, MD and his
grandchildren, Ryan Kirby,
Shaun Thomas and Scott
Preston Muety.
He was preceded in death by
his parents and his wife of
60 years, Virginia “Casey”
nee Czarnik.
