Helen Gulick
Of Arlington Heights

Helen Gulick, formerly of Ajijic, Mexico, was born March 6, 1922 in Chicago to Antonio and Carmella (nee Rodia) Manzo. She died Monday, February 26, 2007 at the Lutheran Home and Services in Arlington Heights.

Mrs. Gulick was a private investor and former fashion model with the Ford and Powers Agencies who appeared on the cover of many magazines including Vogue and Modern Day. At one time she was voted the Best Dressed Woman in Italy.

Helen was the fist female member of the Metropolitan Club in New York and was also a member of the River Club in New York. She volunteered at the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Institute in New York and was active in the New York food and wine society.

Helen enjoyed traveling the world and had lived in New York City, Hong Kong and Bermuda.

She had a great influence on her nieces and nephews who will greatly miss her; Catherine (Roland) Birkner, Sandra Gigante, Patricia (Hubbard) Leverett, Angela (Frank) DiDolci and Anthony (Virginia) Manzo; she is also survived by many great nieces and great nephews and great great nieces and great great nephews.

Helen is preceded in death by her husbands Desmond Hindmarsh and Merle Amerson Gulick and her siblings Albert and Victor Manzo and Rose Ireland.

Visitation from 10:00 AM until time of prayers at 11:15 AM Saturday, March 3, 2007 from the Lutheran Home and Services, Resurrection Chapel, 800 W. Oakton Arlington Heights to St. Edna Catholic Church 2525 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights for 12:00 PM Funeral Mass. Interment private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Misericordia/Heart of Mercy Center, 6300 N. Ridge Ave., Chicago, IL 60660.
