William J. Downs
Of Wheeling

William J. Downs was born on December 2, 1925 in Chicago to Frank and Irene (nee Gilmore) Downs. He died Sunday, February 18, 2007 at Northwest Community Health Care Center in Arlington Heights.

Mr. Downs served in the United States Army During WWII, the Korean War and also the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW in Wheeling.

William is survived by his wife, Hyung J. (nee Hall) Downs, whom he married on November 7, 1970 at Ft. Sheridan; his step-sons, George (Betty) Baldock and Lawrence (fiancé Heidi McMillan); his grandchildren, Elizabeth Marie Maag, James Christopher Baldock, Jacquline Susan Baldock and Cloey Michelle Baldock; his niece, Carolyn Libit; and his nephews, James and Lester Hecker.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Dorothy Hecker.

Visitation 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (four blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:15 AM, Thursday, February 22, 2007 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 181 W. Dundee, Wheeling for Mass at 10:00 AM. Entombment All Saints Mausoleum.
