Many honors were bestowed upon him for his service not only by the association. Bob loved the opera and was a supporter and attendee of the Lyric Opera of Chicago. He loved to travel and visited Hawaii and Australia.

He is survived by his sister, Donna (Kenneth) Steckling of Prospect Hts; nephew Bill (Carol) Steckling of Prospect Hts., nieces Lynda Collins of Mt. Prospect and Janet (Tom) Reed of Arlington Hts,; grandnephews Brock Collins, Eric Steckling, Andy Steckling, Matt Steckling and Brandon Reed, grandnieces Alyssa Collins and Melanie Reed.
