Raymond Charles Kautz was born on July 13, 1918 in Chicago to Charles and Mellie (nee Van Ness) Kautz. He passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2014 in Arlington Heights.
Ray was the founder of Carpets by Ray and Sons in Mount Prospect and Buffalo Grove. He was an usher at St. Mary Parish and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Ray is survived by his wife of 72 years, Kathryn (nee Rotunno) Kautz; his sons, Tom (Nancy) Kautz, Michael (Kathy) Kautz, Nick (Pam) Kautz, John (Randy Reddish) Kautz and Bob J. Kautz; his daughter-in-law, Charlotte (George) Demos; his grandchildren, Vicki (Eric) Kukula, Tim (Beth) Kautz, Jenny (Scott) Klene, Kathy (Clif) Dahlgren, Jim (Rachel) Kautz, Laurie (Tim) Travis, Kim (Paul) Hilgeman, Joe Kautz, Mike (Jessica) Kautz, Katie Kautz, Nicholas Kautz and Elizabeth Kautz; his 16 great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Lois Kautz; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Richard A. Kautz; his parents; and his brother, Bill Kautz.
Visitation from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Thursday, January 16, 2013 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:15 am Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Funeral Home, proceeding to St. Mary Catholic Parish, 10 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove for Mass at 10:00 am. Interment St. Mary Parish Cemetery.
