David B. Souders
Of Arlington Heights
David B. Souders was born on March 31, 1939 in
Normal to Clifford and Julia (nee O'Brien)
Souders. He passed away on Tuesday, January 29,
2013 in Arlington Heights.
David grew up in many towns across the Midwest
and treasured his traditional, wholesome
upbringing the rest of his life. After a time at
the University of Rochester (NY), David proudly
served in the Air Force as a technician with the
Strategic Air Command, working on aircraft such
as KC-135 and B-52.
He then embarked on a career as an electronics
repairman and then a talented computer
programmer.
Second to his love for his family was his
passion for playing classical piano and
classical music. He performed with the
Bloomingdale players club, Harper College piano
ensemble and at various nursing homes. His
favorite piece was Rhapsody in Blue.
David also was an avid editorial writer, having
his strong opinions on national, local and
Arlington Hts politics published numerous times
in the Daily Herald.
In his later years, he was a discharge volunteer
at Northwest Community Hospital and read many
military suspense novels.
David is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary
Jo (nee Herff); his children, Brian (Terese)
Souders and Janelle M. Warnick; his
grandchildren, Henry D. Souders and Jane A.
Souders; his brothers, William (Barbara) Souders
and Edward (Lillian) Souders; and many nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his
son, Jeffrey R. Souders; and his brother,
Richard Souders.
Visitation from 12:00 pm until the time of
services at 4:00 pm, Sunday, February 3, 2013 at
Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington
Heights Road, Arlington Heights. Interment
private.
