Shirley Gay Griggs Westerlund was born on December 15, 1942 in Morehead, Kentucky to John and Olive (nee Hall) Thompson. She passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013 in Borrego Springs, CA.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 28 years, Harry G. Westerlund; her mother; her children, Judi Lee and John (Sandra) Griggs; her step children, Larry (Lynn) Westerlund, Wendy (Jeffrey) Orlowski and David (Beth) Westerlund; her grandchildren, Alex and Jacob Lee, Ellen, Thomas, Peter, Daniel, David, John Paul, Stephen and Emma Griggs, Matthew Westerlund, Ryan Orlowski, Julie Vahos and Kimberly Law; her brothers, Larry and Michael Thompson; and her sister, Lois Gallimore.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Visitation from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights where funeral services will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 11:00 am. Interment Memory Gardens.
