George Joseph Holbrook
Of Arlington Heights

George Joseph Holbrook was born November 11, 1926 in Chicago to James and Mary Ann (Keane) Holbrook. He died January 11, 2012 peacefully at his home in Arlington Heights, surrounded by his loving family.

He served in the Navy during WWII. He was an avid golfer, competed in the Senior PGA and had 3 hole in ones credited to his name. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.

George is survived by his children, Linda (Greg) Briggs, Karen (Steven) Zarcone, Mary, Paul, Brian (Megan) , and Nancy (Joe) Siara; his daughter-in-law, Maria; his grandchildren, Kristen (Randy), Matt, Jeff, Jessica, Andrew, Sarah, Catherine, Lauren, Johnny, Maggie, Gracie, Matthew, Jake, Nolan, and Kyle; and his great-grandchildren, Audrey and Emelia and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death, by his wife Marilyn Jane (nee Falk) of 61 years, his son John, his brothers Patrick (late Catherine), Rev. Monsignor Thomas J. Holbrook, James (late Dorothy), Henry (late Mavis) and William (Eileen) Holbrook and by his parents.

Visitation from 9 AM until time of prayers at 11:15 AM, Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights to St. James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 12:00 PM. Interment Private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Hospice Foundation of Northeastern Illinois, 405 Lake Zurich Rd., Barrington, IL 60010.
