Robert E. Peterson

Arlington Heights
Robert Ernest Peterson was born on November 10, 1921 in Detroit,
Michigan to Ernest and Esther (nee Larson) Peterson. He passed away on
January 10, 2011 at his home in Arlington Heights.
He attended Cass Tech High School and graduated from Northern Henry Ford
Trade School in Michigan. He also attended IIT in Chicago, IL. He served
in the WWII Army Signal Corps and was stationed in Luxemburg. He worked
as an electrical engineer and co-founded Technitron, Inc., based in
Carol Stream. Robert was an active ham radio enthusiast with call sign
W9WAS. He previously had been an active member at Glen Ellyn Covenant
Church and Harbert Community Church in Harbert, MI before relocating to
Arlington Heights in 1995 when they began attending Orchard Evangelical
Free Church. As a resident of Luther Village, Robert was active in the
woodworkers and computer clubs.
His survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mae (nee Willman) Peterson
whom he married on June 7, 1952; his children, Ronald (Debra) Peterson
of Wilmette, and Elaine (Paul) Sweas of West Chicago; his grandchildren,
Emily and Jennifer Peterson, Kristen (Eric) Sweas Fenton, Rob (Krista)
Sweas, and Karin Sweas; his new great-daughter, Juliana Rose Sweas born
on 1-06-2011; and his cousin, Marjorie Carlson of Northbrook who was
like a sister to him.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Lutheran Home in February with
details to follow.
