Susan K. Fitzgerald Beck

Susan K. Fitzgerald Beck was born December 22, 1945 in Ironwood, Michigan to Waino Edward and Sylvia Amanda (nee Kilponen) Makela. She died on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 in Park Ridge.

During her career, Susan was an Administrator for Boeing, General Mills, and St. Peter Lutheran Church and School. She retired as Executive Assistant to the President of the Lutheran Home and Services in Arlington Heights. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, a choir member, a school aide, and a member of the Altar Guild. She loved to sing, loved the outdoors and was a sports and figure skating fan. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Susan is survived by her husband of five years, Charles B. Beck whom she married in March 2005; her children, Shannon (Chad) Lohrentz of Chicago, Michael Trevor Fitzgerald of Palatine; her step-children, Andrew Beck of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Jordan Beck of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; her grandchildren, Ainsley, Nolan, and Telleson Lohrentz; and her siblings, Ann (Bill) Kangas of Grayslake, David (Sharon) Makela of Trego, Wisconsin, Christine (Roger) Saari of Rhinelander, Wisconsin, and Mark (Lori) Makela of Green Bay, Wisconsin.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Michael J. Fitzgerald and her parents.

Memorial visitation from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, January 22, 2010 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd.,(four blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Memorial Service at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 23, 2010 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 111 W. Olive St., Arlington Heights. Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, The Lutheran Life Communities, St. Peter Lutheran Church and School, or The Rainbow Hospice.
