Lou Stauffer

Of Northbrook

A memorial visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until time of Memorial Service at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 23rd for Louis Lee Stauffer of Northbrook, IL at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. Lou was born February 14, 1948 and was a life time resident of Northbrook.

He passed away peacefully on January 14, 2010 at his cabin surrounded by his loving family. Lou touched many lives and will long be remembered for his generous heart and quick smile. He was an avid outdoorsman, whose many passions included raising English Setters, forest and wildlife conservation, winter sports, fishing. He was the oldest of eleven children. During the Vietnam War, Lou served with honors as a paratrooper in the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea. After his discharge from the service, Lou returned to Northbrook to become a founding partner of a local construction firm, Layla Underground, where he worked until his retirement in 2010.

Lou is survived by his mother, Shirley Decker Stauffer, and nine brothers and sisters: Nancy (John) Marshall, Susan (Charles) Whitaker, Cathy (Terrence) Coradini, Tom (Kim), Gary (Sandy), Debbie (Thom) Hughes, Wayne (Gwen), Ann, Jim (Stacey Marie); and his sister-in-law Mickie. He is the cherished uncle of 13 nieces and nephews and great-uncle to six.

Lou was preceded in death by his father, Louis “Bud” Stauffer and brother Larry.
