Donald C. Muir
of Arlington Heights
Since Saturday, January 9, 2010, Donald C. Muir is living in his
heavenly, eternal home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ singing
praises to God.
Visitation with the family will be from 3 to 9 p.m., with a Celebration
Service at 7:00 PM, Thursday, Jan. 14, at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd.,
1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road),
Arlington Heights.
Born on May 15, 1929, in Pittsburgh, to Nathaniel and Margaret Muir,
Donald grew up with two brothers, Bob and George. It was in Pittsburgh
that he met his life long companion, friend and loving wife, Elaine. As
a father of three children and 10 grand‑children, he demonstrated
unconditional love, commitment and support that will enrich them the
rest of their lives.
In his long fulfilling life, he blessed the countless number of people
who met him with great humility and kindness, There are few people that
you can say were more generous and caring than Don, He was a man that
you could always look up to and follow his example because he always
gave before he received. He was a great example of someone who served
the people who meant most to him and asked for little in return.
When it comes to his grandchildren he will be missed greatly. It will be
a very strange site to not see Don at one of his grandchildren's many
events and activities that they participate.
His life was richly blessed by his loving wife of 55 years, Elaine; his
two daughters, Kimberlee (Paul) Eide, Sharon (Larry;) Mead and son,
Cameron (Carolyn). The joy and pride of his life were his ten
grandchildren, David (Kristen) Eide, Rebecca (Andrew) Hodge, Melissa
Eide, Jason Mead, Bryan (Kate) Mead, Kara Mead, Luke Mead, Caleb Muir,
Carina Muir and Cassidy Muir; and soon-to-be great-grandchild in May.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Long Grove Community
Church, 1110 RFD, Long Grove, IL 60047.
