James Edward Johnson was born January 27, 1942 in Waterloo, IA to Frank and Evelyn (nee Hood) Johnson. He died January 24, 2009 at his home in Arlington Heights.

Jim was a graduate of St. Ambrose University and completed his MBA at The University of Chicago. He was employed as an Accountant for NorthShore University HealthSystem where he focused on research institute and grant accounting, as well as pension plan accounting. He had a great appreciation for nature and had become an amateur stargazer; he was also a devoted Northwestern Wildcat fan. Jim was a doting “Papa” and a loyal and generous friend.

He was the loving husband of Karen, to whom he was married for 44 years; adoring father of Julie (Andy) Wallace, Jenny, and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Johnson; loved Papa of Jasmine & Jordan Edward Johnson, and Sydney & Emily Wallace. Dear brother of Jacquie (the late Michael) Kallman, the late Bud (Eileen) Johnson, Barbara Ackerson, Mary (Richard Jr.) Burroughs, Trudy (Jerry) Lines and Rosemary Meekins. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Evelyn Johnson and his brother Bud.
