Carl E. Hundrieser
Of Arlington Heights

Carl E. Hundrieser was born May 15, 1927 in Chicago to Carl L. and Emma A. (nee Weissenborn) Hundrieser. He died Monday, January 14, 2008 at Northwest Community Healthcare Center in Arlington Heights.

Before retiring in 2006, Mr. Hundrieser was president and senior partner of the architectural firms Hundrieser/Neuberger, Hundrieser/McCarthy and Hundrieser/Gutowsky for over 39 years. He designed many churches, commercial and institutional structures in the Chicagoland Area. Carl was a member of AIA, ALA and NCARB and was a licensed architect in several states. He served as chairman of both the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals in Hoffman Estates from 1960-1969.

Carl served in the Navy during WW II and remained in the Navy Reserves for 23 years. He was a member of the Arlington Heights, American Legion Merle Guild Post #208. He was on the Adult Planning Team for the Our Lady of the Wayside Youth Ministry, was a Trustee Emeritus of the Science and Arts Academy in Des Plaines. Carl was an avid and accomplished skier and enjoyed hunting deer.

His survivors include his wife of 61 years, Patricia nee Reed, whom he married February 2, 1946; his children Thomas (Elaine) Hundrieser of Wheaton, Nancy Hundrieser of Elk Grove Village and David (Denise) Hundrieser of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., his grandchildren Natalya, Michael and Audrey; additional family member Dercy (Carlos) Lage and their children Carlos, Jr. and Tricia; and his brothers Richard (Marjorie) and Paul (Betty) Hundrieser.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents.


Visitation from 4:00 until 9:00 PM, Friday, January 18, 2008 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 8:45 AM, Saturday, January 19, 1008 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 440 S. Mitchell, Arlington Heights for Mass at 9:30 AM. Burial at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery.
