Josef Schweigel
Of Huntley

Josef Schweigel was born on January 6, 1934 in Kernei, Yugoslavia to Josef and Magdalena (nee Gastik) Schweigel. He passed away on January 10, 2008 in Inverness.

Josef came to America from Germany in 1963. He worked as a carpenter for Giltspur Inc. from 1964 to 1993. He was a proud member of Chicago Carpenters Union Local 1027 since 1964. Josef was also a member of the American Aid Society, the Kerneier Pleasure Club and the German-American Club of Huntley. He was an avid soccer fan.

Josef is survived by his wife of 48 years, Erika (nee Kunle), whom he married on August 22, 1959, his children Susanne (William) McLaughlin of Crystal Lake and Bettina (Marc) Small of Buffalo Grove, his grandchildren, Marc (Katrina), Ryan, Scott, and Kevin McLaughlin and Kyle, Cameron, Cassidy and Connor Small, his brother, Johann (Anna) Schweigel and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Anna (the late Kasper) Pintz.

Visitation 1-5 PM Sunday at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Funeral service 5:00 PM. Interment private.
