James D. Algyre, Jr.
Of Palatine, formerly of Arlington Heights

James D. Algyre, Jr. was born on November 15, 1938 in Cincinnati, OH to James D. and Katherine (nee Koerner) Algyre, Sr. He died Monday, January 22, 2007 at his home in Palatine.

Jim grew up in Cincinnati, OH. He attended the University of Cincinnati and was a proud member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity; he was also an Eagle Scout.

He went to work with Formica Corp. in Minneapolis, MN. During this time he was a member of the Army National Guard Reserves. While in Minnesota, he met his wife, Nancy Lord, and they married on June 7, 1968.

Following their marriage, he took a position with Texas Instruments, which brought them to Arlington Heights, where they resided for most of their married life. After a few job changes, Jim went on to start his own sales business in 1990 as a manufacturers representative for the window and door industry. He proudly ran the business until 2006 when he turned it over to his son, James D. Algyre III.

In addition to their home in Arlington Heights, Jim and Nancy enjoyed many winter months vacationing at their home in Naples, FL.

Jim had a passion for reading and was an avid sports fan, but his love for the game of golf gave him the greatest joy for many years. The love Jim had for his family and friends was greater than any. He touched so many lives and will be missed dearly. "We love you Jumbo!”

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Nancy (nee Lord); children, Carrie (Isaias) Galvan of Arlington Heights and James D. (Mary Elizabeth) Algyre, III of St. Joseph, Mich.; grandchildren, Matthew, Emily and Nicholas Galvan and Katie, Ashley and Michael Algyre; sisters, Virginia (Robert) Dykes of Columbus, OH and Katherine (Houston) Rinehart of Kalamazoo, Mich.; brother-in-law, William (Carol) Lord of Edina, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
